Text:
Isaiah 30:15 (KJV)
15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
Observation:
The above is in the 1611 english of the common citizen. Here is the same message in today's english.
Isaiah 30:15 (NLT)
15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.
The message is clear. God has spoken. He is the Lord GOD. He is the Sovereign LORD.
The invitation is to you. How will you respond. Will it be in repentance or in rebellion?
The promise to all who turn to the Sovereign LORD is this.
- Rest (security)
- Quietness
- Confidence (assurance)
The Sovereign LORD is waiting for you to come home.
Isaiah 30:18 (ESV)
18 Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
The lyrics of this hymn is ringing in my ears, and framing a picture for my eyes to see, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude to God.
"Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He's waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me."
His plea to you and me is to, "Come home". This world is not our home, He invites us to come to His home.
John 14:1-3 (ESV)
1 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Prayer:
Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, Lord God almighty, Sovereign Lord, and my dear Father.
Father, thank You for the invitation to come home. Lord, I believe in Jesus, and I have received Him into my life. I'm so glad that You sent Jesus to show us the way, and to lead us to our eternal home.
John 14:6 (ESV)
6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Father, I am so glad that when we have Jesus in our heart that we are never alone.
Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)
5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Amen!
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
