Title: The Promise of Wisdom's Call to Listen
Text:
Proverbs 1:33 (HCSB)
33 But whoever listens to me will live securely and be free from the fear of danger."
Observation:
I love the wisdom of this Proverb, and the universality of its appeal. The call of wisdom is to "whoever listens to me".
There is another Proverb, author unknown, that says, "We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak".
Perhaps the reason why we have so much talk and so little listening is that we don't teach our children to listen anymore. When I was a child I learned to listen in the home. I don't remember ever having a class in school on listening; I remember the speech class, but not the listening class.
Whatever happened to listening? Also, choose wisely who you listen to; not everyone is speaking the truth. It's the truth that will set you free.
Think about the promise of the call of wisdom:
Proverbs 1:33 (HCSB)
33 But whoever listens to me will live securely and be free from the fear of danger."
Prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I am so thankful that You have given me two ears and one month; I pray that I will use my ears to listen, and use my mind to think before I speak. Father, I thank You for the promise of the blessings that come to the readers, hearers, and doers of the Word of God. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
