Daily Prayer_May 14, 2012

The Word of God for wisdom:

Proverbs 15:11 (NLT)
11 Even Death and Destruction hold no secrets from the LORD. How much more does he know the human heart!

The Word of God for inspiration:

Psalm 111:2-3 (NLT)
2
How amazing are the deeds of the LORD! All who delight in him should ponder them.
3 Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails.

The Word of God for encouragement:

John 8:25-30 (ESV)
25
So they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Just what I have been telling you from the beginning.
26
I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him."
27
They did not understand that he had been speaking to them about the Father.
28
So Jesus said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me.
29
And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him."
30 As he was saying these things, many believed in him.

My observation:

There has been a consistent theme that I have encountered as I have read the bible this weekend. It has revived and refreshed me. I have strength to complete the purpose for which God made me.

A number of years ago in a cabin in Utah I reworked my mission statement. A few months later after visiting with a professional coach, I reduced that mission statement to two words; Please God.

Today's focal passage has provided me with a new life verse to support my mission statement. This is my new life verse.

John 8:29 (ESV)
29 And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him."

My prayer:

Our Father in heaven, Sovereign Lord, my dear Father, I am so thankful for the word of God, and for the power it has to change lives today. Father God, I thank you that the word of God is a lamp and light to my needy soul in this dark and dangerous world.

Father God, I thank you for your constant presence in my life. Father, I am so glad that I never have to spend a second of my life absent your presence and power in my life. Amen.

1 Timothy 4:4-5 (HCSB)
4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
5 since it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer.
