My observation:
The report of the ministry of Jesus in the city of Jerusalem is very instructive. It is a reminder that everyone who says, "I believe in Jesus" may not be a genuine follower of Christ.
Genuine belief in Jesus results in a changed life. Jesus comes into the heart of the repentant and believing person and takes up permanent residence.
The telling statement in this passage is in verses twenty four and twenty five of John 2. It's a good thing to believe in Jesus, but the more important question is, does Jesus believe in you? When you believed in Jesus did you receive him?
My prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I pray that those who come to you in faith will have a genuine conversion experience. Father, I pray that they will believe in Jesus with their whole heart, and that Jesus will believe in them.
Father God, I pray that all who seek you will not just see the miracles, but that they will see the Messiah. Father, I pray that they will experience a conversion and not a diversion.
Father, may they come to know and believe that Jesus came to save the lost, and not to entertain the lost. Amen.
