The Word of God for wisdom:

Proverbs 3:21-24 (NLT)
21
My child, don't lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them,
22
for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace.
23
They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble.
24 You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.

The Word of God for inspiration:

Psalm 15:1-4 (NLT)
1
Who may worship in your sanctuary, LORD? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
2
Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
3
Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.
4 Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the LORD, and keep their promises even when it hurts.

The Word of God for encouragement:

Hebrews 12:28 (HCSB)
28
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us hold on to grace. By it, we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,

Hebrews 13:5-6 (HCSB)
5
Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you.
6 Therefore, we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

My observation:

The writer of Hebrews reminds God's people of the importance of growing in their walk with the Lord. He reminds them to hold on to grace. The hymn writer John Newton said it like this:

"Tis grace that brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home". Yes, God's grace is truly amazing. You can never go wrong if you hold on to the grace of God.

The focal passage from Hebrews gives us two reasons why we can make it home if we hold on to the grace of God that saved us. Hold on to these two promises, "For He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you", and "The Lord is my helper".

My prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I praise and thank you for the precious promises that we find in the word of God. Father, they comfort my troubled heart when I think about the dangers that lurk within and without. In the face of the troubles of this world, I can take refuge in the promises that the Lord will never leave me or forsake me, and that the Lord is my helper.

1 Peter 2:2-3 (ESV)
2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
