The Word of God for wisdom:
Proverbs 3:3-4 (ESV)
3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.
The Word of God for inspiration:
Psalm 27:11-13 (ESV)
11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. 12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. 13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!
The Word of God for encouragement:
Matthew 5:21-26 (ESV)
21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.' 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool!' will be liable to the hell of fire. 23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. 26 Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.
My observation:
Today the choice word is anger. The teaching of Jesus provided new insight into the laws of God. The law said, "You shall not murder". However, Jesus said there are some other things in the heart that you should not do before you ever get to the point of taking another person's life. Jesus said you should not be angry enough to murder a person. He went further and said that you should not use insulting and derogatory words towards another person. All these things in the heart reveal that you have a heart that is far from God.
My prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I pray that as I look into the mirror of God's word that you would open my eyes so that I might see the condition of my heart like you see it. Father, if you find anything in me that is not pleasing in your eyes, I ask that you remove it from me as far as the east is from the west. Father, remove from my heart any traces of anger, and insulting and derogatory words that you may find in me. Father, change my heart until I am pleasing to you.
