Title: How to Have Abundant Life
Text:
Romans 4:1 (ESV)
1 What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh?
Romans 4:3 (ESV)
3 For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness."
Observation:
I have been writing about the ways God speaks to His people recently, and God is continuing to speak to me in various ways. I recently heard Him speaking to me through impressions at home, and then through the pastor at church.
It's so cool to be able to apply the message you are going to hear in church before you go to church. That's what happens when God opens your eyes to His truth, which is revealed in His Word, and understood through the office work of the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1:18 (NLT)
18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
Do you want to live an abundant life? Is there any other type of life worth living?
Then, this is the number one way to live the abundant life; it is revealed in the life of Abraham, who the Bible refers to as the Father of faith. Abraham was 75 years old, and was childless, and his wife was beyond the age of bearing children; yet, God had promised that He would be father of many nations. How could this be?
Genesis 15:5-6 (NLT)
5 Then the LORD took Abram outside and said to him, "Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That's how many descendants you will have!"
6 And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith.
What did Abraham do? He believed God. The Bible says this about faith.
Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Prayer:
Father, I hallow and bless Your precious name; there is none like You, no not one.
Father, I am so grateful that You give us the gift of faith, and when we put our trust in You we are doing the thing that pleases You the most, and benefits us the most. O Father, please give us more grace to trust You more. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
