Romans 8:12-17 (ESV)
12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Observation:
The world is not a safe place to be because of all of the wars and rumors of wars that are going on worldwide. In this world lasting peace is so elusive, and man does not have the answer; human intellect fails to meet the challenges we face.
However, there is hope for the present and the future in a greater war; the war between God and man; the war between good and evil.
Romans 5:1-2 (ESV)
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:10 (ESV)
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
Is the war over in your life? Have you received the gift of life from your Maker? Are you included in the number that God calls His children?
Romans 1:7 (ESV)
To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
This promise is what gives me hope for today and tomorrow.
Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Prayer:
Father God, I am so thankful for the love of God that set me free from the law of sin and death. Father, I am so grateful for the gift of life that is provided through Your Son, and our Savior; the Lord Jesus Christ. Father, my soul rejoices in singing the praises expressed in the words of this hymn.
"Oh, the love that drew salvation's plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary!"
In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, and let the Church say, Amen.
