The Word of God for wisdom:

Proverbs 17:27 (NLT)
27 A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered.

The Word of God for inspiration:

Psalm 144:3-4 (NLT)
3
O LORD, who are we that you should notice us, mere mortals that you should care for us?
4 For we are like a breath of air; our days are like a passing shadow.

The Word of God for encouragement:

Acts 17:2-3 (HCSB)
2
As usual, Paul went to the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
3 explaining and showing that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead: "THIS Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah."

My observation:

I have been awake for about one hour, and in that hour I have experienced such an overflow of blessings from our Lord. The Lord has spoken to me from his word, and through his people. The last verse of our focal Psalm summarizes how I feel.

Psalm 144:15 (HCSB)
15 Happy are the people with such [blessings]. Happy are the people whose God is Yahweh.

Today, I want to share with you the story of the woman from Shunem; it is another indication of how God just blesses his faithful and obedient children over and over. I am so thankful to the Lord for his loving care, and his unfailing love. No matter what you are going through, you can know for sure that God has your best interest close to his heart. If God brings you to it, he will surely see you through it. Be encouraged by this Old Testament story; it was written for your encouragement.

2 Kings 8:1-6 (HCSB)
1
Elisha said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, "Get ready, you and your household, and go and live as a foreigner wherever you can. For the LORD has announced a seven-year famine, and it has already come to the land."
2
So the woman got ready and did what the man of God said. She and her household lived as foreigners in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
3
When the woman returned from the land of the Philistines at the end of seven years, she went to appeal to the king for her house and field.
4
The king had been speaking to Gehazi, the attendant of the man of God, saying, "TELL me all the great things Elisha has done."
5
While he was telling the king how Elisha restored the dead [son] to life, the woman whose son he had restored to life came to appeal to the king for her house and field. So Gehazi said, "My lord the king, this is the woman and this is the son Elisha restored to life."
6 When the king asked the woman, she told him the story. So the king appointed a court official for her, saying, "Restore all that was hers, along with all the income from the field from the day she left the country until now."

My prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, in view of your love and care for your people, I pray that we will become more faithful to you. Father God, we know from your word that when you see faith and faithfulness in your people, that it pleases you. Father God, help us to have faith in God, and to be faithful to God. Amen.

Hebrews 11:6 (HCSB)
6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

1 Corinthians 4:2 (HCSB)
2 In this regard, it is expected of managers that each one [of them] be found faithful.

Acts 1:8 (HCSB)
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
