Daily Prayer_September 9, 2011

The Word of God for wisdom:

Proverbs 9:1 (ESV)
Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars.

The Word of God for inspiration:

Psalm 34:7 (ESV)
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

The Word of God for encouragement:

Hebrews 1:13-14 (ESV)
¹³ And to which of the angels has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"? ¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

My observation:

Today we continue to look at some of the blessings that were the reason for David's exalted praise of the God of his salvation.

David sought the Lord, and his testimony about answered prayer is an encouragement to my heart as I have purposed to be a man of the word and prayer.

Psalm 34:4 (ESV)
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.

God's promises are great blessings, and he always delivers on time. In the case of David, we find in our focal verse today, Psalm 34:7, that the Lord guards and defends, and that he saves and keeps. Those who look to God for help will find that he never disappoints his people who put their trust in him.

Psalm 34:5 (ESV)
Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

My prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I delight to give honor, glory, and praise to the name of the Lord, the author and finisher of my salvation. Father God, I can truly say that you are a promise keeping God, and that you are a faithful God.

Father God, you are the source of my life, my joy, you mean everything to me, and without you I would be nothing, and could do nothing that would be pleasing in your eyes. Father, I praise and thank you that I can trust in you to guard, defend, save, and keep me. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
