The Power of the Simple Solution

Today Somebody Prayed for You

Today's Bowl of Encouragement by Herb Cotton

Proverbs 8:5 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced;
develop common sense, you who are foolish.

My Reflections on the Word of God Today:

One of the things I have discovered in my 77 years in the earth is that we will never be able to shake having problems in this world. As I type these words this morning, I remember in another place, Anchorage, Alaska that I was sitting at my desk that afternoon and I was prompted to stop what I was doing and call my buddy. He was going through a difficult season in his life.

It turned out that the call was the perfect time to call my friend. He was in the midst of what could have become a toxic situation, but God intervened. A simple phone call from me to him was a game changer.

What I said to him was this, "God doesn't take us into the deep waters to drown us. We can count upon Jesus to never leave us or forsake us."

We are most pleasing to our heavenly Father, when we trust His promises, and not try to fix everything all by ourselves.

I notice some significant words in our text, and I ask that you allow each word to speak to your heart today. Ask the Holy Spirit to be your tutor and helper as God keeps His promise that He will never leave or forsake you. To give attention to the words, I inserted the underline and bold, and not the publisher CSB.

Deuteronomy 4:10 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

10 The day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, the Lord said to me, 'Assemble the people before me, and I will let them hear my words, so that they may learn to fear me all the days they live on the earth and may instruct their children.'

1 Chronicles 22:5 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

5 David said, "My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly great and famous and glorious in all the lands. Therefore, I will make provision for it." So David made lavish preparations for it before his death.

1 Corinthians 1:27 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

27 Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

Prayer Offered to Our Father in Heaven:

Father, hallowed be Your name. We ask You to hasten the day when Thy kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven. While we work and wait for that to happen, we pray this simple and powerful prayer for one another.

Lord, Jesus, help us we pray, Amen.
