God Speaks - Hear The Word of God

The Wisdom of the Proverbs:

Proverbs 29:5-6 (NLT)

To flatter friends is to lay a trap for their feet.

Evil people are trapped by sin, but the righteous escape, shouting for joy.

The Encouragement of the Psalms:

Psalm 124:1-2 (NLT)

What if the LORD had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat:

What if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us?

The Hope of the Old Testament:

Hosea 1:2 (NLT)

When the LORD first began speaking to Israel through Hosea, he said to him, "Go and marry a prostitute, so that some of her children will be conceived in prostitution. This will illustrate how Israel has acted like a prostitute by turning against the LORD and worshiping other gods."

The Gospel Message:

1 John 5:1-5 (NLT)

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too.

We know we love God's children if we love God and obey his commandments.

Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.

And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

Observation:

Has God spoken to your heart through His Word? Listen to these closing words by John as he concludes the letter known as 1 John.

1 John 5:13-15 (NLT)

I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.

And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

Prayer:

Father, I pray that You will give us a hunger and thirst for the Word of God and that we would be men and women of prayer.

Father, help us, by faith, to ask and receive all of the love, forgiveness, grace, and mercy that You have provided for us through the sacrifice of Jesus.

My Soul Sings:

Title: Take the Name of Jesus With You

Author: Lydia Odell Baxter

Oh, the precious name of Jesus,

How it thrills our souls with joy;

All the favor of the Father

In this name we may enjoy.

--

1 Samuel 3:10 (NLT)
10  And the LORD came and called as before, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel replied, "Speak, your servant is listening."
