God Speaks - Hear The Word of God

The Wisdom of the Proverbs:

Proverbs 24:19-20 (NLT)

Don't fret because of evildoers; don't envy the wicked.

For evil people have no future; the light of the wicked will be snuffed out.

The Encouragement of the Psalms:

Psalm 75:7 (NLT)

It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.

The Hope of the Old Testament:

Jeremiah 1:4-8 (NLT)

The LORD gave me this message:

"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations."

"O Sovereign LORD," I said, "I can't speak for you! I'm too young!"

The LORD replied, "Don't say, 'I'm too young,' for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.

And don't be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!"

The Gospel Message:

Philippians 4:4-5 (NLT)

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!

Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Observation:

O how sweet it is to listen to the voice of the Lord. How blessed we are to be able to read and hear a word from the Lord.

In the Proverbs, God tells us not to worry. Is there something you are fretting about today? God says, "Don't fret because of evildoers; don't envy the wicked.

Then notice what God says in the Psalms. O how comforting that it is God that judges, and not me. God knows the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and I fall so short of knowing the whole story.

Then, God speaks to us the New Testament; the letter of the Apostle Paul to the church at Philippi. Read Philippians 4:4-5 again. Then think and meditate on the following quote.

"A child of God should be a visible beatitude for joy and happiness, and a living doxology for gratitude and adoration."

C.H. Spurgeon

Key Word Commentary: Thoughts on Every Chapter of the Bible

Prayer:

Father God, we are so grateful for the Word of God, and for the God of the Word. Father, Your love for Your children, continues to amaze me and to bless me.

Father, help each of the readers and the hearers of Your Word to receive it, and to share it with somebody today.

--

1 Samuel 3:10 (NLT)
10  And the LORD came and called as before, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel replied, "Speak, your servant is listening."
