The Responsibility and Rewards of Living in Unity

Text:

Matthew 18:19-20 (HCSB)

19  Again, I assure you: If two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.

20  For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them."

Observation:

The believer was not made to live and serve alone. If there was ever a time when we needed unity in the Body of Christ, we sure do need it now. In times of great division, the need for unity should be of first importance to God's people.

This word from the letter of the Apostle Paul to the church at Philippi speaks into my heart.

Philippians 2:1-4 (HCSB)

1  If then there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,

2  fulfill my joy by thinking the same way, having the same love, sharing the same feelings, focusing on one goal.

3  Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves.

4  Everyone should look out not [only] for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Is it the desire of your heart to live in unity with your brothers and sisters in the LORD? Do you desire to have the presence, power, peace, and provisions of God to be present in your life?

Your can have these, and more if you will read and apply God's Word to your everyday life, and pray with, and for one another.

Matthew 18:20 (HCSB)

20  For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them."

Prayer:

Father God, I pray that You would bind us together with love for one another. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

--

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
