Text:
Proverbs 3:13-18 (ESV)
13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding,
14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.
15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.
Observation:
In today's focal passage the father seeks to impart a lesson to the child of the significance of learning the value of wisdom to the human race. He encourages the child to learn the lesson of putting the highest priority on the things that money cannot buy.
To be sure money is important to the human race, but it is not everything. We need to put God first, and never forget that it is not our money, but His money. Everything comes from the Father in heaven. Therefore, we should put God first.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
God will meet your needs if you put Him first, and if you find, and live a life that uses all that God has given you. God delights to give you all that you need. Are you willing to receive the gifts He so lovingly, and gracefully offers to you?
Proverbs 3:13-14 (ESV)
13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding,
14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.
Prayer:
Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, thank You for being such a good Father, and for giving us everything that we need to fulfill the purpose for which we were born, and for the reason why we are still alive. Father, help us to finish what You have begun in us.
Father, help us to value wisdom and understanding more than money because the profit is better. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
