Title: Why do You Love Us so Much?

Text:

2 Corinthians 2:16 (HCSB)
16
To some we are an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life. And who is competent for this?

2 Corinthians 4:5-6 (HCSB)
5
For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus.
6 For God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God's glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

Observation:

I have been writing this week about the believer being in Christ. There is no place I would rather be. Who am I? I'm a Christian, and it's all because of what Jesus did for me. He took me as I was, and made me a brand new person.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (HCSB)
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, [he is] a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.

"I'm so glad to be called a Christian,
To be named with the ransomed and whole;
As the statue liberates the citizen,
So the cross liberates the soul.

Oh the cross is my Statue of Liberty,
It was there that my soul was set free;
Unashamed I'll proclaim that a rugged cross
Is my Statue of Liberty!"

Lyrics: Statue of Liberty, by Neil Enloe

It is a wonder of what God through Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross at Calvary. Jesus turned an object of shame into an object of glory. I don't know why God loves us so much, but I am so glad He did.

Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above,
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, Sovereign Lord, my dear Father, I praise and thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross at Calvary to pay for the sin debt for the whole world. Yes Lord, in the words of the hymn writer, "I'll cherish the old rugged cross". In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

  1. Yes, I cherish the Old Rugged Cross.

    2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)
    Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
