Title:  The Source of Hope and Help

Text:

Psalm 121:1-2 (ESV)
1
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Observation:

It is comforting to know that the God who made heaven and earth also made you and me. I have a friend who often reminds me that our God is not only the God of the hills, but that He is also God of the valleys. The Psalmist said it this way.

Psalm 23:4 (ESV)
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

My prayer list is growing the last 12 months of people that I know who have lost spouses, and loved ones. I take comfort in knowing that there is ample help, and that there is ample hope when I direct my eyes to the hills; the source of my help. No matter what comes at me, I know where my help comes from. O, how comforting it is to trust in the Lord, and to know where your help comes from. The Lord provides strength for today and bright hope for all of your tomorrows.

Psalm 27:1 (ESV)
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

No matter how dark the valley there is hope and help for those who know the Lord. When your way is dim and your hope is faint; turn your eyes upward, and you will find hope and help in the God of your salvation.

I have been claiming this promise a lot recently; for others, and for myself.

Jeremiah 33:1-3 (ESV)
1
The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the guard:
2
"Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it—the LORD is his name:
3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I take great comfort in knowing that the maker of heaven and earth; and my maker, invites me to call upon Him. Father God, as long as I live, I will call upon the Lord; my maker, my redeemer, and my keeper. Isn't God good? He hears and answers prayer. O, may your people learn to call on the Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.

Acts 6:4 (KJV)
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
