My observation:
In this letter to the church in Philadelphia, Jesus is described as, "The Holy One, the True one, who has the key of David".
This is a church that Jesus loved. Jesus commended them for patiently enduring, keeping God's word, and not denying God's name. Notice that these were people with limited strength, but they trusted in a God who had great strength.
God opened a door for them, and by faith, they walked through it. Jesus encouraged them to, "Hold on to what you have".
The way to run well and to finish well is to hold on to God's unchanging hand. To those who endure and finish the race; they will receive the crown of life.
My prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I am so thankful that even those with limited strength can be God pleasers; we can know your word, keep your word, and not deny your name.
Father, I thank you that when you open doors for your people, no power on earth can shut them. Lord, I pray that my faith will not falter or fail to walk through the doors that you open. Lord, lead me in the everlasting way, and keep me for the sake of your name. In Jesus name, Amen.
