Daily Prayer_April 9, 2012

The Word of God for wisdom:

 Proverbs 12:26 (NLT)
²⁶ The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.

The Word of God for inspiration:

Psalm 79:9 (NLT)
⁹ Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name.

The Word of God for encouragement:

Joshua 1:6-9 (HCSB)
⁶ "Be strong and courageous, for you will distribute the land I swore to their fathers to give them as an inheritance.
⁷ Above all, be strong and very courageous to carefully observe the whole instruction My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or the left, so that you will have success wherever you go.
⁸ This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.
⁹ Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

My observation:

The instructions that Moses gave to Joshua was good counsel for him then, and it is good counsel for us today.

Joshua 1:7 (HCSB)
⁷ Above all, be strong and very courageous to carefully observe the whole instruction My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or the left, so that you will have success wherever you go.

It takes strength and courage to be faithful to the written word of God; to read it and to heed it will give you the victory in your life.

This was a principle that Joshua observed all the days of his life. When he came to the end of his life he was still embracing this principle, and passing it on to the next generation.

Joshua 23:6 (HCSB)
⁶ "Be very strong and continue obeying all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, so that you do not turn from it to the right or left

My prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I pray that you will raise up a generation in our day who will be men and women of the Book, the written word of God. Father, help us by the power of the Holy Spirit, to have the strength and the courage to read the book, and to obey the book. Amen.
